MONROE, N.C. — Police are investigating a double homicide in the 2600 block of Nelda Drive after two men were found dead early Friday morning, authorities said.

Monroe Police told WCNC Charlotte they received a call about a welfare check from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department around midnight. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men dead.

Detectives believe the incident is isolated and there is no present danger to the community. Monroe Police have ruled out murder-suicide.

Authorities are working to notify next of kin.
