MONROE, N.C. — Two men were found dead inside an apartment early Friday morning after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police requested a welfare check in Monroe, authorities said.
Monroe Police said they received the call from CMPD around midnight and responded to the 2600 block of Nelda Drive. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men dead.
The victims have been identified as Matthew Charles Moody, 52, and James Curtis Wallace, 49. Both men were found dead inside Moody's apartment.
Detectives worked swiftly through the night to follow all leads. Adam Latif Mercado, 34, of Monroe, has been taken into custody and will be charged in connection with the murders of Moody and Wallace, officials said.
