SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - For the first time in 20 years, Spartanburg County will officially have a new sheriff.

Bill Rhyne says he’s ready to step into the new role focusing on transparency and trust.

Rhyne, who is a retired state troop, ran unopposed after making it out of a crowded republican primary field in August. Two weeks later, he wone the runoff.

On Tuesday, Rhyne was officially selected after getting more than 21,000 votes. He’ll be sworn in as sheriff at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

FOX Carolina will have a live stream.
