Next week, Patti Smith will kick off a North American tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of her seminal album, Horses . She also just published her latest memoir, Bread of Angels . On Thursday night, Smith appeared on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert , where she looked back on Horses , discussed Bread of Angels , her childhood, and more.

Smith also stepped onto the stage to perform “Peaceable Kingdom” from her 2004 album Trampin’ with the accompaniment of Tony Shanahan.
