GIBSON TWP, MI — A single-vehicle crash in northern Bay County has claimed the life of a local man.

About 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash site on Standish Road near Grim Road in Gibson Township. They arrived to find a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck had struck a tree.

Deputies determined the Sierra was heading south on Standish Road when its driver, 52-year-old Michael J. Krzyzaniak, lost control and crashed into the tree. The collision caused the truck to flip over.

Krzyzaniak was still inside the truck. Medical responders pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Deputies believe alcohol was a factor in the collision, but are continuing to investigate.
