A legislative audit by the nonpartisan Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) uncovered several instances of noncompliance and mismanagement in the office of Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.

According to the report, the audit conducted in the second half of 2024 identified 12 "instances of noncompliance and internal control deficiencies related to receipts, inventory, and payroll and nonpayroll expenditures."

In one instance, the OLA found the governor’s office did not provide enough oversight when it came to timesheet completion and approval and improper management of receipts, and also made numerous late and inaccurate payments to its vendors.
