GALVESTON, Texas — Big news for cruise lovers in Galveston this Friday — a brand-new cruise terminal is officially opening, and it’s expected to bring even more travelers and tourism dollars through the Port of Galveston.
The new terminal marks the port’s fourth and comes as the cruise industry experiences a major resurgence. AAA projects a record 21.7 million Americans will take a cruise next year, continuing a streak of four consecutive years of passenger growth.
“This is something we’ve talked about for quite some time,” said Doug Shupe with AAA. “According to AAA’s new cruise forecast for 2026, we’re anticipating 21.7 million Americans will be taking a cruise next year. That’s going to be the fourth year in a row for consecutive cruise passenger growth.”
