STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Veterans Day, a day set aside to honor those who served in all branches of the U.S. military, is Tuesday, Nov. 11.

The day was originally created as Armistice Day in 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I and was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all veterans.

The 2025 New York City Veterans Day Parade will take place on Tuesday, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The parade route will run up Fifth Avenue, from 26th Street to 48th Street in Manhattan.

To mark the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, Marine Corps and Navy, the parade will feature three Grand Marshals: former staff sergeant and Medal of Honor recipient Clinton Romesha; Marine veteran and homeless veterans’ advocate Stephen Peck; and NASA Astronaut and retired U.S. Navy Captain Sunita “Suni” Williams.
