A special committee to guide the creation of a master plan for the lakes near LSU and City Park was created by the BREC Commission this week, roughly a month after the group decided to fund the plan alone .
The roughly $631,000 master plan, which intends to make the area a destination for recreation, drew controversy last month when the commission considered allowing a group affiliated with the Baton Rouge Area Foundation (BRAF) to co-fund and direct the project.
During Thursday’s meeting, the committee also rejected some resident requests to include a representative from an association of homeowners along the lakeshore or Friends of City Park, an association dedicated to preserving the park and golf course. Some residents fear the eventual plan will try to remove the City Park Golf Co
