TAMPA, Fla. — Two women had a morning full of birthday festivities as they both turned 100 this year at a local senior center.
Lizzie Adkins was born on Sept. 10, 1925, and Amanda Page was born on Dec. 29, 1925, but they celebrated with each other Wednesday morning at the Progress Village Senior Center in Tampa.
The festivities included reflections and biographies on the two Mississippi natives, a choir performance, poetry reading, gift presentations and cake.
Adkins graduated from high school in Georgia and had three children with her first husband. She later remarried in 1950 and was together until his death in 1988, according to a news release.
She now has seven grandchildren and is a member of the First Baptist Church of Progress Village.
