A Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules aircraft dispatched from Elizabeth City located a sailing ship called “Magic Bus” that was taking on water roughly 260 nautical miles from Cape Hatteras. The vessel’s passengers, the Coast Guard reports, were abandoning ship into a life boat.
A MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter coordinated with the USS George H.W. Bush for fuel support, given the distance of the mission, before arriving to site of the sinking.
