ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — After multiple months of closure and detours, Main Street in Fairport is reopening.

The village announced the roadway will open to vehicle traffic after 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, The closure began in April 2025, which caused traffic to be detoured along Whitney Road, Turk Hill Road, and Ayrault Road.,

Despite vehicular traffic opening, drivers and pedestrians are urged to take caution as construction continues. Crews are adding new sidewalks, lighting, trees, crosswalks, and other improvements part of the Main Streetscape Project.

On November 21, the village will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the bridge project and streetscape.
