BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - The Transit Center at Virginia Tech is seeing record ridership and improvement in service, according to the university.

A ridership record was set for Blacksburg Transit (BT) with 4,783,530 passengers in fiscal year 2025. A 26% increase from the previous fiscal year, it broke the old record set in 2019 of 4,659,053 passengers. On January 21, it broke a single-day record ridership with 33,258 passengers.

Various routes saw a 25%-35% increase in frequency without the need for more buses after consolidated time checks spread around created shorter routes and increased efficiency, said the university.
