DILLON, S.C. (WBTW) -- Longtime Dillon Police Chief David Lane said Friday he plans to retire from law enforcement effective Dec. 1.
Lane has spent his entire 27-year career with the department, including nearly 10 years as chief. He told News13 on Friday that he has had a "wonderful career" and that he plans to pursue a job outside of law enforcement after he leaves the department.
He also provided the following statement to News13 on Friday:
"I am writing to formally announce my retirement from the position of Police Chief at the Dillon Police Department, effective December 1, 2025. After nearly 10 years in this role and over 27 years of dedicated service to the city this decision marks a significant and bittersweet moment in my life.
