GEORGIA, USA — The May 2024 choking death of a 1-year-old child at a Brunswick day care has prompted the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) to launch a new choking prevention campaign for child care providers in the state.
DECAL said in a release that its new campaign called "Chop, Look, Listen," was developed based on data from nearly 500 child care providers across Georgia. The initiative is designed to help early childhood educators prevent choking and promote safe eating habits.
"The providers acknowledged that understanding appropriate food size by age is a critical need for keeping children safe during mealtimes," DECAL said in the release.
