A Lower Paxton Township man who was shot and killed by a police officer last weekend after stabbing his wife and lunging toward police with the weapon had a history of domestic violence, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Junior Jean, 48, stabbed his wife in the face and abdomen in their apartment Saturday afternoon on the 4000 block of Fawn Drive after learning she planned to file for divorce, sources said.

Jean and his wife moved to the U.S. from Haiti about a year ago, multiple sources said.

Penn State Health said Jean’s wife remains hospitalized at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center but has upgraded to “good” condition. According to the Penn State Health website, good condition means vital signs are stable, and she is conscious and comfortable.
