In addition to a full list of hundreds of United Airlines flights set to be canceled Friday through Sunday as part of the Federal Aviation Administration-directed flight cuts, the Chicago-based airline also said certain routes and flights will remain on schedule.

The flight schedule update come after the FAA directed 10% of flights across 40 major airports to be cut as air traffic controller shortages continue amid the longest government shutdown in history.

"The FAA’s goal is to relieve pressure on the aviation system so that every airline can continue to operate safely," United said in a message on its website . "That is the FAA’s highest priority, and ours as well. No matter what environment we’re operating in, we won’t compromise on safety."
