Dr. Eileen de Villa, Toronto’s former chief medical officer of health, is now a second special adviser appointed in the ongoing provincial intervention at Grey Bruce Public Health.
Her appointment, alongside the first special adviser, Jim Pine, was announced Thursday in Pine’s second update on his work provided by email. Dr. de Villa was introduced Oct. 24 at a second meeting of the health unit’s governance partners, which include Bruce and Grey counties.

De Villa was the medical officer of health in Toronto from 2017 to 2024 and for the Region of Peel from 2015 to 2017.
