The site of the old Bank of Montreal building in the heart of downtown Edmonton has sat empty for seven years, and those who frequent the area are hoping something can be done about it.

The City of Edmonton launched a survey earlier this week to get a sense of how the site — in its current state — affects residents and business owners in the area.

Construction debris still litters the fenced-off corner at 102nd Avenue and 101st Street.

Regency Developments demolished the six-storey building in 2018.

Since then, multiple attempts to start development on the site cropped up, including plans for a mixed-use tower that would have been almost 50 storeys. But none of those plans have come to fruition.
