FRANKLIN, Va. — A Hampton man has been charged following a Franklin police investigation into the distribution of child sexual abuse material, authorities said.
According to police, the investigation began in September when an undercover detective for the Franklin Police Department received several illicit files traced to a home in the 1800 block of Kensington Drive in Hampton. In October, Franklin police, with help from the Hampton Police Division, executed a search warrant at the residence and seized several electronic devices.
Investigators identified the suspect as 34-year-old Michael Daniel Hughes. On November 5, Hughes was charged with three counts of distributing child pornography. He was arrested without incident and is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
