ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A former St. Louis United States Postal Service worker has been sentenced to prison after entering a guilty plea.
Anthony Virdure II, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of mail theft and one count of wire fraud.
Prosecutors said Virdure stole hundreds of checks totaling $2.4 million from the U.S. Mail while working at the St. Louis Main Post Office. The crimes happened between late 2023 through 2024.
Postal inspectors also found that Virdure had applied for and received a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan for $20,832 in April of 2021, after falsely claiming he owned a retail store.
Virdure has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.
