The Wild are getting a key reinforcement at a time when they desperately need it. Veteran winger Mats Zuccarello has been activated off of injured reserve and is set to make his season debut in Friday night's road game against the New York Islanders.

Zuccarello, 38, has been out since training camp due to a lower-body injury. His absence was a blow to the Wild's forward group, which doesn't have much proven depth. John Hynes and Minnesota will hope that his return to the lineup can provide a boost to a team that has struggled to score goals.

A native of Oslo, Norway, Zuccarello is about to begin his 16th NHL season and his seventh with the Wild. The longtime New York Ranger has been more productive in the second half of his career than the first. After recording 113 goals and 352 points
