The Amarillo High school football team will be forced to vacate six wins from the 2025 season after the UIL ruled that an ineligible player participated in those contests, AISD announced on Friday morning, Nov. 7.

Just one day following a statement from the school district acknowledging AISD's awareness of an "eligibility issue," the district sent out another release detailing the situation.

"The UIL has denied our waiver, which means that the Amarillo High varsity football team has been playing with an ineligible player most of the season. Unfortunately, the final steps in filing the appropriate UIL administrative documentation were not completed on behalf of the student-athlete before the start of the season.
