DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A Duluth man has been sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison for drug sales, including fentanyl.

The sentence was handed down in federal court this week following an extensive investigation.

According to court documents, 44-year-old Byron Robinson was driving on I-35 from Minneapolis to Duluth last July.

Prior to the stop, investigators with the Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force say they observed Robinson engage in narcotic sales in Duluth.

A search warrant of his apartment and vehicle discovered 220 grams of fentanyl and more than 2 thousand grams of meth.

Robinson admitted that he intended to sell these drugs in the Twin Ports.

Assistant United States Attorney Nichole Carter prosecuted the case.
