WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Sedgwick County jury has convicted a man of aggravated battery for shooting a teenager in the Goddard Walmart parking lot last year, leaving him paralyzed.

The jury reached its verdict Friday morning, convicting Ruben Contreras in the May 2024 shooting of Anakin Zehring. He was initially charged with attempted first-degree murder.
