A pedestrian has reportedly been "hit by a tram" in Edinburgh , prompting a huge emergency response. ‌

The alarm was raised at around 1.30pm on Friday, November 7 when emergency services including police, fire crews, and paramedics raced to Constitution Street following reports of someone having been struck by the vehicle . ‌

The BBC said the individual was hit by the vehicle, with EdinburghLive adding unconfirmed local reports suggested they were 'trapped' near the stop at The Shore. ‌

Police Scotland confirmed a 66-year-old man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh following the incident. The force said it was related to "concern for a person".
