PHOENIX — A man has died after he fell more than 100 feet into the Grand Canyon on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The 65-year-old man slipped and fell into the canyon at Guano Point, which is on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, near the West Skywalk, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Deputies were called to the area around 2 p.m. to assist the Hualapai Nation with a technical recovery, MCSO said.

They discovered that the man had fallen over the edge of the canyon and died.
