KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Wildlife Federation announced the winners of its 11th Annual Wildlife and Nature Photo contest on Friday.

The Tennessee Wildlife Federation said it received more than 1,600 photos were submitted by 134 photographers from eight states all showcasing the wildlife and outdoor experiences the state has to offer. In total the top 20 images and dozens of honorable mentions will be highlighted in the organization's 2026 calendar.

The cover image, taken by James Pierson of Ooltewah, Tennessee, captured a graceful flock of sandhill cranes walking along the bank of the Hiwassee River in the fog. The People's Choice Award went to Christopher Barger of Harriman, Tennessee, for his picture of raccoons peeking from a tree cavity.
