LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Cold weather is quickly making its way to Lincoln, but not all of our neighbors have the means to keep warm.

It’s why the People’s City Mission and Lincoln YMCA partnered for a coat distribution to ensure everyone in the community is ready for the lower temperatures.

YMCA leaders distributed coats ranging from children’s sizes to adults on Friday.

The organization says it will serve about 280 to 300 people with multiple coats at the distribution.

Of the 1,400 coats that were donated and collected, leaders say about 85 percent will be distributed on Friday.

All are completely free of charge.

The president and CEO of the YMCA of Lincoln, Renee Yost, said the heartwarming gesture on behalf of the city is a reminder that there are lots of ways to give back this sea
