BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - An investigation into human trafficking in Louisiana has led to the arrest of a husband and wife.
Deputies said two Baton Rouge women and a Kenner woman, who were all trafficking victims, were rescued from this operation.
Jail records show Maurilio Vargas and Zabdi Guzman-Diaz, both 40, were arrested by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, Nov. 6. They are facing charges related to human trafficking by force or coercion, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, promoting prostitution, and pandering.
According to arrest records, authorities received a tip in January that someone named “Primo” later identified as Vargas, oversaw a home in the Baton Rouge area on Holt Avenue, where human trafficking and prostitution were allegedly happening.
