STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Wagner College Theatre will bring the heat of a Kansas Labor Day to Staten Island this month with its stirring revival of William Inge’s “Picnic,” opening Nov. 13 in the Main Hall Theatre.
Set in a small town simmering with unspoken desires, “Picnic” unfolds over the course of one languid holiday as a group of women prepare for their annual celebration — only to have their world upended by the arrival of Hal Carter, a handsome, troubled drifter.
