Ypsilanti — Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer urged President Donald Trump's administration Friday to stop fighting a judge's order and agree to allow full monthly Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP food benefits to be distributed during the federal government shutdown.
"Follow what the law says," said Whitmer, a Democrat who has worked across the aisle with the Republican president this year. "Follow what the court said. Stop appealing. And just say, 'Yes, we've been ordered to feed kids. We're going to feed families.'"
