LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says she’s received word from a Texas-based company accused of scamming Michigan tourists that they will comply with a cease-and-desist notice she sent.
Back in September Nessel filed the cease-and-desist order with MTVRS, LLC, who is accused of running deceptive websites that are tricking tourists into buying fake tickets for Mackinac Island attractions.
Nessel’s office on Friday said she reached an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance (AVC) with the company. Under the AVC, the company is ordered to stop hosting or supporting all websites related to the alleged scams targeting Michigan tourist attractions. The company is also not allowed to create new websites for the same purposes.
