IV Waste is set to keep its job cleaning the French Quarter and Downtown Development District through at least the middle of next year after winning the rights to a six-month contract starting Dec. 23, when its current contract expires.

A committee of city officials ranked IV Waste first among three vendors on Friday after considering a variety of factors, including readiness to take on a sanitation contract that – unlike other parts of the city – requires the contractor to pressure walk sidewalks, sweep streets and remove litter.
