Minnesota is home to a fleet of excellent outdoor ice skating rinks in the winter, whether it's the many park rinks around the Twin Cities or ice showcased during Hockey Day Minnesota each year.
USA Today 10Best is building a readers' choice list of the best outdoor rinks. Despite the state's reputation, the list of nominees includes just one rink from The State of Hockey: The Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL in Roseville.
"With 110,00 square feet of ice," the editors write, "[it's] the largest outdoor refrigerated skating facility in North America. Featuring a 400-meter speed skating track surrounding an infield ice area, the rink offers a unique opportunity for a wide variety of on-ice activities, including skating, hockey, and bandy."
