ALTA, Calif. —

Interstate 80 is closed in both directions near Alta after two big rigs crashed in the area on Friday, the California Highway Patrol said.

The first big rig crashed and spilled oil and gas on the road, CHP said. The second big rig, an Amazon Prime truck, drove through the spill and then crashed.

CHP said lanes would be closed for an extended period because of the oil on the road.

The crashes caused minor injuries, CHP said.
