A scooter rider is dead after a collision with an Amtrak train in Southeast Portland on Friday morning, police said .
Officers arrived at the scene, at Southeast 11th Avenue near Clinton Street, at about 10 a.m., police said in a news release . They found the rider of the rented scooter dead.
The Amtrak passenger train stopped after the collision, police said.
Southeast 11th Avenue is closed between Division and Clinton streets during the initial phase of the investigation.
