PORTLAND, Ore. — A person riding a rented electric scooter was hit and killed by an Amtrak passenger train Friday morning in Portland's Hosford-Abernethy neighborhood, police said.
Portland police officers responded around 10:08 a.m. to reports of a crash involving a train and a scooter in the area of Southeast 11th Avenue and Clinton Street. When they arrived, they found the scooter rider dead at the scene. The train stopped after the crash.
The PPB Major Crash Team is investigating. Southeast 11th Avenue is closed between Division Street and Clinton Street during the investigation.
