GRESHAM, Ore. — Police arrested a man in connection with a June crash that killed two people in Gresham, police said.
According to police, Eyasu Bedasso, 22, was driving more than 80 mph in a 35 mph speed zone on Southwest Towle Avenue when he crashed his small SUV into another vehicle on June 16.
The driver of the second vehicle, Theresa Heick, died at the scene. She was 69 years old. Her husband, 79-year-old Robert Heick, was a passenger in the vehicle. He suffered critical injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he died several days later.
Bedasso was indicted by a grand jury on Oct. 31 and arrested on Nov. 5. He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and faces two counts of second-degree manslaughter, two counts of criminally negligent homicide, and reckless driving.
