Representatives from across the area broke ground on the new property for QuikTrip and Flint Hills Crossing Friday at noon. A reception was held afterwards at the Flint Hills Technical College Student Commons.
Construction on the QuikTrip building is expected to begin on Monday, with an opening date of late next summer.
QuikTrip originally began development in October of 2021, when initial plans were submitted to the Emporia Metropolitan Planning Commission. The 7,000 square foot travel center-style station will feature a kitchen, fryer, and a twelve option coffee bar on tap, and will be able to accommodate both regular traffic and semi-trucks.
“Our store development team worked really hard on this for the last five years,” Steven Sparacia, QuikTrip Divisions Operations Manager, said. “
