The Siege of Boston: April 19, 1775 - March 17, 1776

The siege began immediately after the battles at Lexington and Concord. British troops were already garrisoned in Boston. The Massachusetts militias quickly blocked the land access to Boston. These militias and many others became the Continental Army under the direction of recently appointed George Washington, Commander in Chief of the Continental Army.
