Maple Leafs goalie Joseph Woll has accepted a rehabilitation assignment with the AHL Toronto Marlies , his next step to returning to NHL action after taking time off for personal leave.
“I’m really focussed to get into game shape,” Woll said Friday. “Got a couple of practices. I feel like I’m ready to go and get back with the team and get back to playing.”
To that end, the 27-year-old will join the Marlies, though for how long remains unclear. Woll spent parts of five seasons after turning pro with the Marlies, before becoming a full-time NHLer.
“I’ve had a lot of experience there. It will be good to see some of those guys, and good to get playing, get back into game action and feel the puck. I’m joining them and I’m eager to play,” said Woll.
