NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn is pushing to crack down on violent juvenile crime.
Blackburn and four other Republican senators introduced the Violent Juvenile Offender Accountability Act on Friday.
The act would make it easier to bring federal criminal charges against certain juvenile offenders who are over the age of 16.
Blackburn said violence needs with be met with accountability and that offenders can’t be let off of the hook due to their age.

“Violent criminals shouldn’t be let off the hook just because they are under the age of 18,” Blackburn said. “We must hold violent juvenile offenders accountable for their actions while also working to prevent youth crime in the first place.
