NEWARK, N.J. (PIX11) -- She may live by herself, but Tihiana Franklin has mouths to feed.
"I have my grandkids come over and they want - you know how kids, little kids are - they want snacks," said Franklin. "When you can't go to the store and get it, it's not fair."
She's a SNAP beneficiary, and since the program's recent outage, she and others in the community who've needed a hand up have come to a United Community Corporation food distribution at West Side Park in Newark.
"I'm happy to be here but... taking our stamps from us and other medical stuff, it's not cool," said Franklin.
Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill helped to fill empty bags with fresh food for people to bring back to their tables.
