CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Andrew Shaw was sentenced to 50 years in prison for his part in Chris Bagley’s murder.
Shaw will not serve more than 50 years.
A jury found Andrew Shaw guilty of second-degree murder in August. Prosecutors argued Shaw hired two men, Drew Wagner and Johnny Church, formerly known as Drew Blahnik, to kill Bagley in December 2018.
Shaw requested a new trial on October 9. His defense argued that “the jury was improperly instructed,” that the verdict went against the evidence presented at trial and the trial itself was unfair.
The jury acquitted Shaw on charges of solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.
