CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Patrick Morrisey has announced the launch of the America250 Mural Project, a statewide effort to celebrate West Virginia’s history and heritage through public art.

The initiative invites all 55 counties to create hand-painted murals as part of a national celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

West Virginia is the first state to create a statewide mural trail specifically for the America250 celebration. Each county will be eligible for a $5,000 grant to support artist compensation and material costs.

“West Virginia‘s story is one worth telling, and I can’t think of a better time to share it than during the year of America’s 250th birthday,” said Governor Patrick Morrisey.
