WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Winn-Dixie is getting a new lease on life in Florida with major renovation and rebranding plans that could impact grocery shoppers across the state, including South Florida.

The century-old grocery chain, which was previously expected to be absorbed by discount retailer Aldi , is now being bought back by its former parent company, Southeastern Grocers, based in Jacksonville.

The company announced plans for total renovations and a rebranding effort focused specifically on Florida markets.

The renovation plans include upgrades to stores, expansion of the chain's own brand products, and the addition of Amazon return kiosks.
