The city of Valparaiso is taking an assortment of steps to assist residents impacted by the ongoing shutdown of the federal government and the loss of SNAP benefits, according to a release.

The bus fares on the V-Line intracity service will be suspended for passengers showing proof of SNAP benefits starting Saturday, and utility late fees and shut-offs for delinquent payments will be temporarily halted for all Valparaiso City Utilities customers until the government shutdown has been resolved.
