Program prioritizes increasing Frederick tree canopy, training youth

A handful of young residents dug their hands into the soil on Thursday to plant trees outside of the Frederick County Department of Social Services.

The group has worked with environmental nonprofit Mobilize Frederick to plant 112 trees this fall at businesses, homes and schools across the city as part of its Frederick Cooler Neighborhoods Project.
