MANCHESTER, N.H. —

At least 1,000 flights were canceled across the U.S. Friday as the government shutdown enters historic territory.

The Federal Aviation Administration this week ordered airlines to scale back flights across the country beginning Friday, leaving passengers scrambling to find backup travel plans as 40 airports canceled several flights.

Major hubs for travel were heavily impacted, including Boston’s Logan International Airport as well as airports in Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is also beginning to experience cancellations due to the FAA’s orders. A Breeze Airways flight that was set to arrive Saturday from Orlando was canceled per the order. Two other flights that were set to arrive in Manchester Saturday were also cancele
